Week 2 D-3
One concept from the chapter that I really liked was Feedback. I enjoy getting feedback from others and believe it is a great thing to do with groups. It helps each member become a stronger team player and helps the group communicate effectively. When getting feedback from a larger group to the smaller one, it can help improve their group as a whole. Positive and negative feedback are both needed from groups to hear. It can encourage them to keep doing that works and to fix the problems that could be happening. Groups should always take into considerate the feedback they get from others and use it effectively. When getting feedback, it’s also nice to return the favor and give it to someone else. It really does help with small groups. I know from experience with a group that asking for feedback on the progress was helpful in order for us to get better at what we were doing and to work together better as well.

week 2 D2
1
Entropy and equifinality impact small groups in
different ways. Entropy has to do with chaos, and disorganization. Groups can
tend to lose focus and be stagnate. If
everyone in a group does their own thing and not talk to one another it can
create unneeded problems. It can cause a group to get off track and not perform
to the best of their ability.
Equifunality is the balance to a group. There can be more than one way
to get something done and everyone needs to put their ideas in to help the
group come up with the best way possible to achieve what they need to. Entropy and equifunality both need to be
balanced in order to work together. It
can be hard for a group to come together to share ideas and that is what is
needed. When entropy and equifinality are balanced then the group is able to
learn better and share ideas with each other and work together like a group
should.

Week 2 D1- small groups
1.
After reading chapter 2 and getting a better understanding
about groups I was able to relate some of my personal experiences to them.
Groups are based on interdependence and interrelationships. When parts of a
system to a small group don’t function well, the whole group can fall apart. When
being in a group you need one another to help you get things done and to depend
on for help. If someone doesn’t do their part, then it can harm the small
group. When being in a small group you have to relieve on each other.
In
the past, I’ve been in many small groups for mostly projects in school as well
as leader groups for camps. One example that I have from a small group
experience would be being in a group for an online class. We had to all decide
on a place to meet and do the project correctly. Not everyone was on board and I
ended up having to do everything since I didn’t want a bad grade. I had at
first delegated sections out to the group since I was the leader of it and
depended on them to do their part. Not everyone did and I picked up the slack.
Another
time I was in a small group was for a final
for my comm class and we had to do a presentation. We all had our sections
outlined and ready to do in front of the class. In order to get full credit
each section had to be completed. The whole group was prepared and we all were
ready to perform. On the day we were set to present one of the members of the
group didn’t show up. We also didn’t have a copy of their section and had to
improvise and wing it. Lucky we were able to pull it off and everyone pitched
in, but the group member that didn’t show up had everyone panicked worried that
we wouldn’t be able to complete it since no one else had done research on that
topic. We had depended on them and they let us done. Being in a small group has
many challenges and it can be tough at times if everyone doesn’t pitch in and
do their part.

Introduction
Hi Comm 141p Classmates!
I'm "Roro" and this is my second year at SJSU. I transferred from West Valley with my AA in liberal Arts. I’m majoring in communication and plan on going into sales/marketing after I graduate. I’m a full time student and work full time as well. In my spare time I like to do anything outdoors from fishing, camping, boating, riding, and lots more. My communication story is that I love it. I have loved all of the comm classes that I have taken so far, and look forward to taking more. This semester I am in comm115P, 133F, and 141P. I’m eager to learn more about each class and to become a better communicator all around. Communication is used everyday among people, so it is important to understand it and become a better communicator. My goal for this class is to become a better communicator with small groups and to learn how to deal with being in a group and getting your point across correctly. I hope that I can learn to become a better team communicator and analyze groups efficiently. I look forward to getting to know everyone more and reading each others posts! Let’s have a great semester!
